Circle of Security Parenting

Parenting can at times leave us feeling uncertain about what our child truly needs.

The Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) program, grounded in decades of research, supports parents and caregivers in building secure parent–child relationships by helping them better understand and respond to their child’s emotional needs.

The Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) model supports parents in learning how to:

  • Better understand their child’s emotional world by recognizing and interpreting emotional needs

  • Support their child in developing healthy emotional regulation skills

  • Strengthen their child’s self-esteem and sense of worth

  • Honour their natural instincts and desire to provide a secure, nurturing relationship.

It’s natural to feel confused or overwhelmed by a child’s behaviour.
Babies don’t come with an instruction manual, and understanding what they need can be challenging. Circle of Security Parenting helps parents begin to view children’s behaviors as meaningful communication of their emotional needs. Children are always telling us what they need—we sometimes just need support in learning how to interpret their signals.

Circle of Security Parenting teaches you how to better understand your child’s behaviours, identify their underlying emotional needs, and respond in ways that strengthen your connection.

By embracing the idea that “good enough” parenting is enough, you can feel more confident and empowered in your relationship with your child.

Grounded in decades of research, COSP offers practical tools that support your child’s emotional security, self-esteem, and capacity to build healthy relationships both at home and beyond. It provides a supportive pathway toward a stronger, more secure bond with your child.
